Is the frontal sinus immune to carcinoma? A retrospective study and review of the literature

Abstract Background Frontal sinus carcinoma is commonly seen as an extension of the ethmoid sinus, overlying skin, or lacrimal gland. The existence this disease has been unclear. We aimed to describe occurrence primary frontal carcinoma. Methods conducted a systematic literature review and retrospective medical records at our institution in past 10 years. Results Sixty-four articles were included review. Most carcinomas involved surrounding structures sphenoid origin could not be confirmed. No cases identified hospital. Conclusion Isolated carcinoma, if exists, very rare. There uncertainty regarding most studies. seems immune from Further studies are needed explain such immunity.
